Use a Glass to Amplify Sound on your Cell Phone Speaker

Stick your iPhone / Android / Blackberry or any music player in a GLASS. Yes.. a drinking glass. When you’re playing music, this acts as a funnel and amplifies the HECK out of your iPhone.

Take a glass, possibly with an elongated shape and narrower at the base, fire up the music app and put the phone/music player in the glass. Magically the sound will be amplified.  Try it. It works.

Motorcycle in Autumn? Be Careful of Wet Leaves!

Remember…. Wet leaves equals ice!  That’s right.  Avoid wet leaves on the road.  In the fall, pay attention to the color and texture of the pavement ahead of you,  If there are leaves on the pavement in your path of travel, and there’s any possibility that they might be wet, try to avoid them or slow down far beyond normal. Wet leaves on the road surface can be extremely slippery.

So expect a lot of traffic and closures around Brooklyn and New York City because of the marathon.  Like the frakkin Verrazano Bridge will be closed for a while today….. Stupid runners.

Also….. Click here for the map of the route, and click here for the route… words? or better yet, a list of bridge and road closures…here. And here’s another map.

Here’re some quick facts:

The New York City Marathon takes place every year on the first Sunday in November. When it was held for the first time, it counted only 127 starters. Today, the New York Marathon has become world famous and attracts as many as 37,000 runners. Not only the number of participants has grown, also the running course has become bigger than when it started in 1979 and was reduced to Central Park. The course is 26.2 miles long and goes from Staten Island over Brooklyn to Queens, the Bronx, and finally to Manhattann, finishing up at Tavern on the Green in world-famous Central Park.

Aaaaaaand I cant go on… I’m too tired.

Got Power Back and Dont Dress Like A Cat

Well, here in slightly north of New York City, we finally got our power back after a snowstorm in october that no one was ready for.

And girls….. Stop dressing like a cat on halloween.  Unless it’s a really slutty cat.  In which case we dont really care that you are dressed like a cat, because all we see is the slutty part of the costume.  In fact, if you dressed as a slutty new york city subway rat, it wouldnt make much of a difference.  And you’re not being cute or original dressing as a cat, so stop it….. Just Stop!

Do you Stub your Toe often?

I do it all the time.  I walk around barefoot or in flip flops as often as I can. Why? No, I’m not a hippie… or a hippy. I know, you’re wondering what the hell hippy is.  Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY), is a parent involvement, school readiness program that helps parents prepare their three, four and….. what the frack?  I have such ADD….. So I like to walk around barefoot. And I suffer for it. Often.

But did you know…. British scientists have shown that swear words can have a powerful pain-killing effect, according to a new study published in the journal NeuroReport.  See the article here.  But we already know that cursing your ass off helps to relieve pain.  The real question is: How do you make sure not to have that pain in the first place?

Well Otod is here to help. I have the answer. No research necessary . 2 words…..  Wear Shoes.

Here’s a great list of quotes and definitions from Urban Dictionary about Stubbed Toe.

And here’s a link to a wonderful article telling you just How to Stub Your Toe, in case you were looking for better ways to harm yourself.
