NYC Marathon Today….. Yeah yeah…. It’s Obvious

So expect a lot of traffic and closures around Brooklyn and New York City because of the marathon.  Like the frakkin Verrazano Bridge will be closed for a while today….. Stupid runners.

Also….. Click here for the map of the route, and click here for the route in..um… words? or better yet, a list of bridge and road closures…here. And here’s another map.

Here’re some quick facts:

The New York City Marathon takes place every year on the first Sunday in November. When it was held for the first time, it counted only 127 starters. Today, the New York Marathon has become world famous and attracts as many as 37,000 runners. Not only the number of participants has grown, also the running course has become bigger than when it started in 1979 and was reduced to Central Park. The course is 26.2 miles long and goes from Staten Island over Brooklyn to Queens, the Bronx, and finally to Manhattann, finishing up at Tavern on the Green in world-famous Central Park.

Aaaaaaand I cant go on… I’m too tired.
