It’s National PA Week!

No, it’s not National Pennsylvania Week.  The “PA” in PA stands for Physician Assistant.   National PA Week is celebrated annually from October 6-12, PA Week supports, highlights and recognizes the significant impact of physician assistants on health care.  So you still have plenty of time to thank a PA and wish them a happy holiday.

My sister’s a physician assistant, so in addition to thanking her, I’m gonna show her that mole that’s forming on my growth that’s on the back of my 3rd ear, under all the excess wax and popped veins……

National PA Week is also a great time to promote public awareness of the PA profession and to salute the outstanding growth of the PA workforce.  Did you know, in the United States, Physician Assistants are a relatively new addition to the healthcare industry. The first class of PAs graduated on October 6th, 1967 – a date later adopted by the AAPA as National PA Day. However, the concept of a Physician Assistant was not new to the world as a whole.

On PA Day on Oct. 6 2010, President Barack Obama proclaimed Oct. 6-12 as National Physician Assistant Week. It marked the first time this celebration was recognized by presidential proclamation…… Now that’s “change”.
